Barack Trounces Hillary in South Carolina

Barack Obama was the victor over Hillary Clinton in the South Carolina Primary … and it wasn’t even close. Obama won 55% of the vote, Clinton received 27%, while Edwards trailed at 18%.

Barack Pulls Big Victory out of S.C. - Fox News

Obama’s resounding win will certainly give his campaign a boost. However, I don’t expect Hillary to pack up and go home just yet. I imagine she still has plenty of tricks up her sleeve. I can’t predict the eventual outcome of this primary. However, there is one thing of which I am certain: I do not envy Barack Obama one little bit.

Presidential Candidates Band Together to Fight Global Warming

Republican and Democratic presidential candidates have decided to put partisanship aside and do their part for the planet. Instead of jetting around to each campaign stop in planes and buses, they have come up with environmentally friendly transportation plans. Each candidate’s plans are as follows:

  • Mitt Romney will ride his bike door to door spreading the good news of his campaign across the country.
  • Obama will fly to each campaign stop simply by flapping his ears.
  • John McCain will hire illegals to pull him around on a rickshaw, thereby doing jobs Americans won’t do.
  • John Edwards plans on driving a clean coal vehicle, using coal mined by his father, (who if you haven’t heard yet, worked at a mill).

Fred Thompson Withdraws

Here is a short statement Fred Thompson released on his website:

Today I have withdrawn my candidacy for President of the United States. I hope that my country and my party have benefited from our having made this effort. Jeri and I will always be grateful for the encouragement and friendship of so many wonderful people.

In light of this news, my heart is very heavy. Fred Thompson didn’t run out of lust for power or personal ambition. He ran because he cares about this nation and sees the challenges on the horizon. I don’t mourn for Fred, as he has a full life beyond all this. Instead, I mourn for this nation. Who will carry the torch of conservative principles now?

Is the Reagan Coalition Dead?

There is only one man who can unify the social, fiscal, and defense conservatives. That man is Fred Thompson. Voters in South Carolina relegated the only true conservative on the ballot to third place.

Fred Thompson on Conservative Principles:

John McCain cannot unify Republicans. His collaboration with Democrats in the Senate, support for amnesty, and opposition to tax cuts do nothing to inspire the conservative base. McCain used his power in the past to push through McCain-Feingold “Campaign Finance Reform”, which has stifled free political speech. McCain can only win primaries with the help of Democrats and Independents. In this year’s general election, these will likely go the Democrats, with a depressed conservative base turn-out.

Mike Huckabee cannot unite the Reagan Coalition, as he doesn’t even believe the coalition is worth preserving. His “religiosity” will turn off Independents and Democrats. His high tax and big spending ways will turn away fiscal conservatives. His use of religious buzz words to impress Evangelicals will wear thin, as it becomes apparent he is uses them for his own political advantage and not from a place of true faith. He wants to take us in a direction where government plays the role of God … a bloated government that gives directives requiring us to comply for our “own good”. Christian charity should come from the heart, not from impersonal, bloated, compulsory government programs. Over time, voters will grow weary when he tells a joke or uses empty platitudes instead of addressing real issues. The main stream media will tear him limb from limb, dragging up every controversial religious comment he’s ever uttered, and dig into past corruption allegations against him in Arkansas.

Muslims Challenge Christian Convert Pastor to Debate

Reza Safa, once a devout Iranian Shiite Muslim, gave his heart to Jesus while in Sweden. He now pastors Fishermen’s House Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and is founder of TBN Nejat TV.

On September 11, 2007, a group of angry Muslims entered Fishermen’s House Church during service, demanding a debate within 30 days. Pastor Safa said, “They were furious because in a local newspaper I declared that Muslims could not be friends with Christians. I agreed to a debate and although I gave them a date in October, they were not able to keep their pledge. Now after four months we have reached an agreement for a date. The Islamic Society of Tulsa claims strongly that they are a peaceful organization, yet the person that they have invited, all the way from Canada, to debate me is Dr. Jamal Badawi, a member of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) Fiqh Council.”

The debate will be held on Friday, January 25, 2008, at the Tulsa Convention Center Conference Hall. Please pray that God will protect Pastor Safa, and give him the words to speak. God’s Word is sharper than any two-edged sword. Although we as a nation must use military force to protect ourselves from the threat of radical Islam, the only real hope is Jesus Christ. Only Jesus can truly change a person’s heart. Let’s pray lives will be changed and hearts transformed by the love of God.

Romney Wins Michigan, Race Still Wide Open

Mitt Romney is the winner of Michigan’s Primary, and is currently ahead in the delegate count. While these are positive signs for the Romney campaign, there is no one Republican candidate that is clearly dominating. Huckabee won Iowa, McCain won New Hampshire, and Romney was the victor in Michigan and Wyoming.

This uncertainty may give Fred Thompson an opening in South Carolina. With no clear winner, voters will be more apt to vote for the candidate who most reflects their values rather than the “lesser of two evils” topping the polls. Thompson garnered favorable early support in the state, but lost momentum as other candidates scored early wins. Thompson is surging in the polls in South Carolina, but will it be too little, too late?

Giuliani may also benefit from this uncertainty within the Republican Party. Ordinarily, Rudy’s strategy of sitting out the first wave of primaries would be political suicide, but this year, his plan of targeting delegate-rich states could be a winner. Giuliani is still competitive in Florida, according to polls.

There is a possibility we could end up with a brokered convention, with no one candidate having gained a large enough majority of delegates. There is no telling what kind of strange alliances could be formed in order to reach required delegate totals. This year’s election is shaping up to be quite unconventional … possibly accompanied by even more unconventional convention.

All Your Thermostats Are Belong To Us?

The “Peoples Republic of Kalifornia” is attempting to push through Building Energy Efficiency Standards, Title 24. If implemented, new homes and existing homes must be fitted with PCTs (Programmable Communicated Thermostats). The California Energy Commission has proposed that all irremovable PCTs will contain an embedded one-way FM-RDS radio, which allows authorities to control each home’s temperature remotely.

Fireworks at Republican Debate

Do we as a party abandon the Reagan coalition and move instead to a big government, populist model? Fred Thompson describes the struggle within the Republican Party, and contrasts his vision with that of Mike Huckabee’s.

Overall, a fantastic night for Fred Thompson, widely declared the winner of this debate. The question is, will it be enough to win him South Carolina?

Democrat Debate Parody

Moderator: Welcome to the Democratic Debate. Let’s get started. My first question is for former Senator John Edwards. After the assasination of Benazir Bhutto in Pakistan and the unrest that followed, voters are wondering how candidates would handle this situation. What would you do to stabilize the country and keep their nuclear weapons out of the hands of terrorists?

Edwards: Well, in order to solve a problem, you have to get to the root of the issue. The truth is, there are two Pakistans. One for rich oil sheikh fatcats, and the other for poor Alladin-like peasants who work at mills, just like my grandfather, grandmother, father, aunts, uncles, and many little orphan children. Until there is one Pakistan instead of two, this problem will never be solved.

Moderator: Senator Clinton, a portion of the Democrat electorate believe you’re corrupt and power-hungry, and your grating voice makes you unpalatable to most voters. What assurance can you give them you can overcome the “likeability” factor and score a victory for Democrats?

Hillary: You know, it’s not easy … [turns around and applies eyedrops] … that hurts my feelings. [tears streaming down] America deserves a leader with 35 years of experience, and I can bring that experience to bear and crush — [stony faced] — I mean work hard to implement change. You can’t even begin to imagine the kind of changes I will implement! [evil cackle]

Edwards: It’s too bad people don’t like you Hillary. Not everyone can be as pretty as me though. [tosses hair back and forth]

Moderator: You are quite stunning Mr. Edwards. Anyway, on to Governor Richardson. You obviously don’t have the girl-next-door good looks of Edwards or the charisma of Obama, but you must have something to bring to the table. Please explain to us why you should be President.
