Am I just cold hearted???? I can’t decide if this is the right position to take but, if a little boy told me that mommy made min wage and got her hours cut, can you help? My response would be, “Tell mommy to go to school and get an education like I did. I know she cant afford it, thats why there are student loans that I am still paying for 5 years after I earned my BA”. I know mommy has kids but, so do I. I made a little more than min wage when I started school, THATS WHY I STARTED SCHOOL!!!!! I didn’t have to start paying my loan back until I graduated, by then, I had the income to afford it. And yes, I did work my way through school with no gvt low income housing.
HMM, I wonder if either, since they are going to provide college tuition for everyone, will pay off the remainder of my student loans?? I bet I won’t qualify because of my income.
What little kid would say something like that anyway? I just love hearing the stories,, “It’s like that retired wounded vet that told me he sleeps under a bridge in WI because he can’t afford a place to live”. Or,, “It’s like that single mother in IL working six jobs to feed her 10 kids”.
This country is allowing its spirit to be broken. Welfare and handouts used to be a last resort for the truly needy, now its an expectation for those who have no ambition or drive to succeed.
Am I cold hearted?? I don’t know, but I do work hard!
I too found it strange a boy that age would tell Mrs. Clinton a story like that. It sounds like another one of her tall tales.
It has to hard for single moms out there, but I don’t know what else the government can do about it. There are already lots of government out there to help the poor, and I don’t think it’s fair to take money from people who make just a little more and often work harder. Student loans are available for just such a purpose.
The other thing that gets me is insurance. While we’re doing fine now, there have been times we couldn’t get health insurance from an employer and it was super expensive to buy on our own. If we had worked a few less hours a week, we could have gotten it free from the government. It seems a strange incentive to offer free health care if a person works less.
