Obama Visits “Belly of the Beast” (Springfield, MO)
Barack Obama visited Springfield, Missouri, a predominately Republican area. A spokeswoman for Obama, Jennifer Psaki, explained the campaign’s strategy of reaching out to people in traditionally conservative strongholds:
“What we’re trying to do is go into areas where people are more skeptical,” Psaki said. “You have to go into the belly of the beast.
Wow, this must be a shining example of liberals’ fabled tolerance for diversity of thought.
Obama later explained his energy crisis solution to the beleaguered Missouri residents residing in the entrails of the beast :
“The way to bring down gas prices over the long term and even over the medium term is to use less oil. We can be so much more efficient than we are right now, and not suffer any loss of quality of life.”
While energy conservation is certainly a viable, cost-saving measure for individiual families, Obama failed to explain how he plans to prevent developing nations like China and India from purchasing the fuel we fail to purchase. How will oil prices come down if we cannot control demand from other nations?
