Governor Palin State of the State Address - Part 1

As usual, Sarah Palin speaks with common sense, humor, and offers real solutions. Alaskans are blessed to have a Governor with the foresight to save revenue in times of plenty, allowing the state to have billions in savings while other states are begging for bailouts from the federal government. This is quite a feat for an “inexperienced” and “uneducated” woman. In this address to Alaskans, she reiterates the need to cut budgets in response to declining revenue instead of spending the people’s money recklessly. She also touchingly speaks of the value of each human life. I am hopeful in a few years, once the America people are tried of our nation’s leaders spending trillions bailing out their friends with our money, Sarah will re-emerge ready to lead with the tried and true principles of our forefathers.

Iran Attack ‘Political Suicide’ for Bush

Iranian President Ahmadinejad said this about the likelihood of an American attack:

In the US, his wise scholars will not allow Mr. Bush to commit political suicide and of course the economic, political and military situation will not allow Mr. Bush to do that.

I’m beginning to think he could be right. I would say President Bush has a very slim shot of winning the upcoming presidential election. I imagine Ahmanutjob will be sweating bullets come November 5.

Fred Thompson Addresses National Right To Life

Fred Thompson delivered a rousing speech at the National Right to Life conference today. He exposed Obama as the fraud he is when it comes to faith. Thompson said this about Obama’s radical abortion stands:

For example, in 2002 a federal law, the Born Alive Infant Protection Act was signed by President Bush. This act protected babies that survived late-term abortions. Only 15 members of the US House opposed it, and it passed the US Senate unanimously. Even NARAL did not oppose it.

That same year as an Illinois legislator, Senator Obama voted against similar legislation that would have given these babies life-saving medical attention.

I trust that he is explaining how it is that he is to the left of NARAL on this issue during the “religious outreach” meetings he’s been holding of late.

Go Fred! I miss him.

Fred explained the importance of re-affirming our nation’s founding principles rather than pursuing “change”:

This country was founded on certain eternal truths – the lessons of the Scriptures and the wisdom of the ages … the recognition that there is such a thing as human nature that must be taken into account when governing … a respect for tradition and – most fundamentally – the proposition that people are meant to be free.

From these principles a government was formed – a government with its powers separated, checked and balanced, because the Founders knew that power tended to corrupt human beings. In keeping with that, they incorporated into our Constitution a system of Federalism to ensure that there was not too much power concentrated in the central government –a central government that was given certain delineated powers and no others.

Thompson went on to question the kinds of changes Barack has in mind:

Has freedom, liberty and the strength which guarantees them become outdated? And just what part of our Constitutional framework requires sprucing up or should be abandoned altogether?

Those changes that are momentarily popular in elite circles, which would expand our government, weaken our ability to defend ourselves, redefine marriage and life itself, sap our sense of personal responsibility and treat our people as if they were merely a collection of appetites to be fed in an election year … they must be rejected.

I miss Fred.

Thompson highlighted the importance of the upcoming election when it comes to the Supreme Court. Most of us, he said, will not live to see far-reaching implications of an Obama-appointed Supreme Court rectified. He spoke of recent flawed Court rulings relating to the death penalty and said this:

Logically, this can only mean that, when the Court decides that our moral standards have evolved even further, they will feel free to abolish the death penalty for all crimes. Then, presumably, we will have evolved to the level of decency of Europeans.

Lol, at “the decency of Europeans” :) Fred also said Barack is “George McGovern without the experience”! Did I mention I miss Fred?

Do yourself a favor and check out Fred Thompson’s full speech on Townhall. Perhaps the speech will give you that extra bit of motivation to hold your nose and vote McCain.  I know Fred reminded me why I’m proud to be a conservative and most of all proud to be an American.

Individual Right to Bear Arms Affirmed!

The Supreme Court voted 5-4 to strike down a Washing D.C. ban on hand guns. The Court re-affirmed the Second Amendment is in fact an individual right not tied to service in a state militia.

Breitbart - Supreme Court Says Americans Have Right to Guns

While this excellent news for law-abiding gun owners, the slim margin of victory is of grave concern. I was expecting at least a 6-3 win at a minimum. I am not comfortable with my rights being affirmed only narrowly. This coming election is incredibly crucial. While I am not a big fan of John McCain, the makeup of the Supreme Court is one of the best reasons I can think of to vote for him. The next president will likely appoint several new justices. Should Obama become president, the whole fabric of our nation could drastically change in the next twenty years. Constitutional rights we have come to take for granted could slowly slip away. The right to bear arms, as well as the right to free, un-PC “offensive”, speech could be a thing of the past. If change means doing away with our “antiquated” Constitutional rights, then count me out. I prefer to remain living in a flawed but free nation rather than a Marxist, post-Christian “utopia”.

Hillary Wins Pennsylvania!

It seems Barack’s comments about bitter rural yokels who hold on to guns and God may have hurt him. Perhaps Barack’s chickens are coming home to roost :)

This primary just keeps dragging on and on, with no end in sight. Hillary faces an uphill battle for the nomination, but I’m not counting her out.

On a separate note, Ron Paul is giving John McCain a run for his money in Pennsylvania. Okay, so it’s not that close … Paul has 19%, as compared to McCain’s 71%.  If Ron Paul was about 2% less kooky, I’d root for him. Mike Huckabee currently trails with 9.6%.

Charges Against Marine Dropped!

The Marine Corp dropped all charges against Lance Cpl. Stephen Tatum. He was accused of involuntary manslaughter of civilians in Haditha, as well as reckless endangerment and aggravated assault. He has been given full immunity, along with dismissal of all charges.

Charges Dropped Against Marine Accused of Haditha Killings - Fox News
One man, Sgt. Frank Wuterich, is currently still charged with nine counts of voluntary manslaughter and a number of other charges.

I’m beginning to wonder if some of those bureaucrats in the Pentagon are worried their “shadow civilian judicial body”, (see my article from 3/27), is about to be revealed. I hope they’re squirming in their seats.

Secret Haditha Pentagon Committee

The Thomas Moore Law Center is alleging the Pentagon set up a civilian shadow legal body to investigate and encourage prosecution of the Marines accused of killing civilians in Haditha.

Richard Thompson, president of Thomas Moore Law Center said this:

“The hysteria and media firestorm over Abu Ghraib and the Pat Tillman investigations led to fear of a similar media reaction to the Haditha incident, causing the military’s civilian bosses to set up this shadow oversight body. This extraordinary action politicized the military justice system and was a clear signal to top generals that they were expected to hold individuals criminally responsible. The investigation turned into a quest for a prosecution — not justice.”

Haditha Bombshell: Pentagon Had Secret Committee - Newsmax

These allegations, if true, are incredibly disturbing. Are these government officials willing to throw the men and women of the armed forced under the bus for political expediency and to placate the leftists’ traitorous agenda? If any issue deserves countless investigations and Senate committee hearings, it’s this one. These men were willing to put their very lives on the line for all of us, so they at least deserve the benefit of the doubt. How can we expect good men to continue to enlist when our government is so quick to turn its back on those who have sacrificed so greatly for our nation? Perhaps the men who are so quick to sit in judgment of these soldiers should be sent to a war zone, with bullets whizzing over their head, to see if their split second life and death decisions measure up. I doubt most would muster the courage to stop sobbing and cowering in fear from a fetal position.
