Muslims Challenge Christian Convert Pastor to Debate
Reza Safa, once a devout Iranian Shiite Muslim, gave his heart to Jesus while in Sweden. He now pastors Fishermen’s House Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and is founder of TBN Nejat TV.
On September 11, 2007, a group of angry Muslims entered Fishermen’s House Church during service, demanding a debate within 30 days. Pastor Safa said, “They were furious because in a local newspaper I declared that Muslims could not be friends with Christians. I agreed to a debate and although I gave them a date in October, they were not able to keep their pledge. Now after four months we have reached an agreement for a date. The Islamic Society of Tulsa claims strongly that they are a peaceful organization, yet the person that they have invited, all the way from Canada, to debate me is Dr. Jamal Badawi, a member of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) Fiqh Council.”
The debate will be held on Friday, January 25, 2008, at the Tulsa Convention Center Conference Hall. Please pray that God will protect Pastor Safa, and give him the words to speak. God’s Word is sharper than any two-edged sword. Although we as a nation must use military force to protect ourselves from the threat of radical Islam, the only real hope is Jesus Christ. Only Jesus can truly change a person’s heart. Let’s pray lives will be changed and hearts transformed by the love of God.
